A Holy Reset

Psalm 139:23–24
“Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”

Midweek is often where fatigue settles in, routines tighten, and spiritual focus begins to blur. That’s why this day is perfect for a holy reset. David’s prayer in Psalm 139 is bold and dangerous in the best way. He does not ask God to bless him, strengthen him, or defend him. He asks God to examine him.

“Search me.” This is not casual openness; it is deliberate vulnerability. David invites God into the hidden corridors of his soul—the motives, the fears, the doubts, the unspoken desires. Most people spend their lives asking God to fix their circumstances. Few ask God to reveal themselves to themselves.

“Try me, and know my thoughts.” The word “try” means to test metal in fire. David essentially says, “Lord, refine my inner life. Show me what is pure and what is impure.” Revival cannot begin while we cling to illusions about ourselves. When God reveals what is within us, He is not humiliating us; He is healing us.

“And see if there be any wicked way in me.” The awakened believer stops assuming that he is fine. He invites the Spirit to expose patterns, habits, attitudes, and subtle sins that have become too comfortable. God’s goal is not condemnation but transformation.

“Lead me in the way everlasting.” God never reveals without restoring. He never convicts without guiding. The path He leads us on is life-giving, liberating, and eternal. Conviction is the doorway into deeper fellowship, not a barrier to it.

A holy reset is not an emotional moment—it is a spiritual recalibration. It is the refusal to drift. It is the choice to realign your life with the heart of God.

Today, pray David’s prayer with sincerity. Ask God to reveal. Ask Him to refine. Ask Him to redirect. And then walk into midweek service with a heart tuned to His voice.
