Ephesians 4:15–16
“But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ… maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.”
Healthy relationships require a clear standard. In the church, that standard is not personality, preference, or past experience—it is Christ Himself. Paul makes it unmistakable: Christ is the head, and all growth flows from Him. When He is displaced, relationships suffer.
Speaking the truth in love is the balance that protects the body. Truth without love wounds. Love without truth weakens. Revival restores both. It gives courage to speak honestly and grace to speak gently. Maturity grows where truth and love are not separated.
Paul describes a body that “maketh increase of itself in love.” This growth is not forced—it is organic. When each part functions properly, the whole body strengthens. Dysfunction arises when Christ is no longer the measure.
Many relational conflicts stem from misplaced expectations. We demand from people what only Christ can supply. Revival re-centers our relationships around Him, relieving pressure and restoring grace.
Midweek is a fitting time to examine relational alignment. Are your expectations Christ-centered? Are your words truth-shaped and love-governed? Growth requires recalibration.
Ask God today to measure your relationships by Christ—not by comfort or control. When He is the head, the body thrives.
