In today’s world, children are under constant spiritual attack—from media, peer pressure, cultural lies, and subtle deceptions. Proverbs 4:23 says, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” As parents, one of our greatest responsibilities is to guard the hearts of our children—diligently, prayerfully, and intentionally.
Guarding their hearts means filtering what comes into their minds, what they see, hear, and absorb. It means setting up spiritual boundaries—not out of fear, but out of love. Just as we don’t let strangers walk uninvited into our home, we shouldn’t allow harmful influences to enter through screens, music, or friendships without oversight.
But guarding is not only about protection—it’s also about planting. Fill your child’s heart with truth, beauty, Scripture, and grace. Encourage open conversations. Let your home be a safe place for questions, learning, and spiritual growth. And above all, model a life that shows what it means to have a heart wholly devoted to God.
Pray today for wisdom and discernment. Ask God to help you see what might be sneaking past your family’s defenses. And ask Him to help you lovingly and wisely build up the walls that will protect and shape your children’s hearts for His glory.
