Proverbs 12:22 — “Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are his delight.”

In a world where deception often feels normal and even rewarded, God makes His perspective unmistakably clear: lying lips are an abomination. To the Lord, dishonesty is not a small flaw but a deep offense, for it misrepresents truth itself. By contrast, those who speak honestly bring Him delight.

Honesty is more than just avoiding lies—it is living with integrity in word and deed. It means telling the truth even when it costs us, keeping our promises even when it is inconvenient, and living transparently before others. Integrity builds trust, and trust is the foundation of every relationship—whether in family, friendship, business, or the church.

The temptation to lie often comes from fear: fear of consequences, fear of rejection, or fear of losing advantage. But faith calls us to trust God with the outcome of honesty. He honors truth, even when it is costly, and He despises deceit, even when it seems convenient.

The ultimate model of honesty is Jesus Christ, who declared, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” To follow Him is to walk in truth. Our words should echo His character so that others know they can trust us completely.

When the world is darkened by lies, a life of honesty shines like a light. It glorifies God, strengthens relationships, and brings peace to the heart. The Lord delights in truth, and His children should reflect it daily.
