John 1:1, 14 — “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. … And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.”

As we close this week focused on speech, our hearts are drawn to Christ, the Living Word. Long before human words were spoken, the eternal Word was with God and was God. In the fullness of time, that Word became flesh, and in Him we see God’s truth and grace revealed perfectly.

Every careless word we have spoken, every lie we have told, every harsh phrase we have uttered—all stand condemned before a holy God. But the Living Word came, not only to speak truth but to save us from the guilt of our words. On the cross, Jesus bore the penalty for our sins of speech, and in Him, we find forgiveness and cleansing.

Now, as His redeemed people, our words are called to reflect His. We speak truth because He is truth. We offer grace because He is full of grace. We speak life because He has given us life.

The power of the tongue is great, but the power of the Living Word is greater. By His Spirit, He enables us to speak words that build, heal, and glorify God. Our speech becomes a testimony of His transforming work.

On this Lord’s Day, let us worship Christ, the Living Word, who dwelt among us and still speaks today. May our lips, touched by His grace, bring glory to His name.
