Colossians 3:1–2 — “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”

The way we live is shaped by the way we see. If our vision is fixed only on earthly things, our lives will reflect temporary pursuits—wealth, comfort, reputation, and pleasure. But Paul calls believers to lift their eyes higher, to set their hearts on eternity. Those who are risen with Christ should live with heaven in view.

Living with eternity in view does not mean withdrawing from the world or ignoring earthly responsibilities. It means living every day with the awareness that this world is not our home. Our true citizenship is in heaven, and our choices should reflect that reality. Each decision, each act of service, each investment of time should be weighed in light of eternity.

When eternity is in view, priorities shift. Temporal things lose their grip, and eternal things gain weight. We see relationships as opportunities for ministry, possessions as tools for the kingdom, and trials as momentary afflictions preparing us for eternal glory. Life’s disappointments sting less when we remember they are temporary, and heaven’s joys shine brighter as we anticipate them.

This perspective also brings stability. The world is constantly changing, and the pursuit of earthly goals often leaves people restless and unsatisfied. But when our affection is set on things above, our hearts find security in the unchanging promises of God. Eternity anchors us in the storms of life.

The harvest of our lives will ultimately be measured in eternal terms. What matters is not what we accumulated but what we invested in Christ’s kingdom. What will last forever are the souls we reached, the truth we lived, and the love we showed.

Living with eternity in view gives purpose to every moment. Today is not just another day; it is an opportunity to sow seeds that will bear fruit in heaven. Let us live with our eyes lifted upward, our hearts anchored in Christ, and our hands busy in His harvest.
