2 Corinthians 5:10 — “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”

For believers, the final harvest includes the day we will stand before Christ to give account of our lives. This is not a judgment of condemnation, for our sins have already been judged at the cross. It is a judgment of reward, where our works will be tested and our faithfulness revealed.

Paul reminds us that this moment is inescapable: “we must all appear.” There will be no hiding, no pretending, and no excuses. Every word spoken, every act done, and every motive harbored will be laid bare before the eyes of the One who knows all things. This thought should both humble us and inspire us to live faithfully.

At the same time, this judgment is a time of joy. Faithful service will be rewarded, and crowns will be given to those who loved His appearing, labored for souls, and endured trials. The joy of hearing, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant,” will outweigh every sacrifice made on earth.

The judgment seat also puts life in perspective. Much of what seems important now will fade into insignificance on that day. What will matter is whether we invested our lives in the things of eternity—souls, holiness, obedience, and service to Christ.

This truth calls us to live each day with eternity in view. The harvest is coming, and our works will follow us. Let us labor faithfully, so that when we reap, it will be in joy and not in regret.
