Genesis 8:22 — “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.”
After the flood, God gave Noah a promise of stability: the cycles of life would continue as long as the earth remains. Seedtime and harvest are not only natural rhythms but also spiritual reminders. Just as the farmer trusts the seasons, so the believer can trust God’s unchanging faithfulness.
This verse is a reminder that God is sovereign over every detail of life. Seasons change, but His promises remain. The faithfulness of the harvest points us to the greater faithfulness of the One who governs the harvest. We can rest knowing that He is in control, even when our circumstances shift and life feels uncertain.
In the Christian walk, there are times of planting and times of reaping, times of toil and times of rest. Sometimes it feels like seedtime lasts longer than harvest. Yet God promises that both will come in their appointed time. Our role is to stay faithful through every season, trusting Him for the results.
The certainty of God’s promise should give us courage. Just as the farmer does not despair when winter comes, neither should we despair in spiritual winters. The spring of seedtime and the joy of harvest will return. Our faithful God guarantees it.
