One of the greatest joys and privileges for a Christian home is to serve the Lord together. Whether it’s passing out tracts, cleaning the church, visiting the sick, or praying for missionaries, there’s something powerful about families working side by side for the Kingdom. Joshua’s declaration echoes through the ages: “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15).
Serving together strengthens family bonds, teaches children the joy of selfless giving, and places Christ at the center of family life. It turns hearts outward and reminds each member that the Christian life is not just about receiving—it’s about giving. Children who grow up in homes where service is a way of life are more likely to develop hearts of compassion and purpose.
Service doesn’t have to be formal or flashy. Sometimes it’s baking cookies for a shut-in, raking leaves for a neighbor, or simply being a faithful, friendly presence in the church. The key is to make serving God a regular, natural part of your family rhythm.
Ask God today how your family can serve Him together. Don’t wait until it’s convenient—make it a priority. When families serve together, they grow together, and they glorify the Lord in the process.
