One of the greatest responsibilities God gives parents is the spiritual training of their children. Deuteronomy 6:6–7 says, “And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children…” Teaching diligently means it’s not an afterthought—it’s a priority.

Children don’t just absorb truth through sermons—they absorb it through life. Through your prayers at bedtime. Through your response to stress. Through the way you treat others, speak, serve, and love. Teaching them God’s Word starts with letting it dwell in your own heart richly (Colossians 3:16). When His truth is alive in you, it will overflow into every part of your parenting.

Discipling your children doesn’t require a seminary degree. It requires consistency. Open God’s Word with them. Memorize verses together. Talk about Scripture as you go through your day—at breakfast, on the way to school, before bed. Let the Word be as natural in your home as any other conversation.

And remember, God promises that His Word will not return void (Isaiah 55:11). Even when it seems like your children aren’t listening, or when they wander, those seeds are still planted. Keep sowing. Keep praying. Keep teaching. It matters more than you know.
