1 Peter 1:3–5 — “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”

Peter exclaims with gratitude for the living hope believers have in Christ. This hope is not wishful thinking but certainty, secured by the resurrection. Gratitude flourishes when we remember that our inheritance is incorruptible, undefiled, unfading, and reserved.

Hope changes how we live. Gratitude lifts our eyes from present struggles to eternal glory. The trials of this life are temporary, but the hope of heaven is sure. Gratitude grows when we see beyond the moment to eternity.

This hope is secured by God’s power. We are kept by Him, not by our strength. Gratitude for eternal hope is gratitude for God’s keeping hand. We are safe in Christ, guarded until the final salvation is revealed.

For pastors, this truth sustains through hardships. Ministry may be difficult, but eternal hope strengthens endurance. For the flock, this truth encourages perseverance. Gratitude for heaven fuels faithfulness on earth.

Our inheritance is not of this world. It cannot be corrupted, stained, or lost. Gratitude grows when we treasure heaven more than earth.

Let us bless God for this living hope. Gratitude for eternal life transforms our present living, making us steadfast, joyful, and faithful.
