2 Corinthians 9:10–12 — “Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;) Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God. For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God.”
Paul teaches that generosity not only meets needs but multiplies thanksgiving. When we give, others thank God, and gratitude spreads. Giving is not only financial support but spiritual fruit, producing thanksgiving that glorifies the Lord.
God supplies the seed, multiplies the harvest, and enriches His people so they can give generously. Gratitude in giving begins by recognizing that all we have is from Him. We are not owners but stewards of His resources.
Generosity blesses both giver and receiver. The giver experiences the joy of participating in God’s work, and the receiver responds with thanksgiving. Gratitude multiplies as giving ripples outward in praise.
For pastors, this truth encourages reliance on God’s provision through His people. For the flock, it reminds us that giving is more than obligation—it is worship. Gratitude transforms giving from duty into delight.
Thanksgiving in giving also witnesses to the world. When unbelievers see generosity marked by gratitude, they are drawn to the grace of God. Giving becomes a visible testimony of the gospel.
Let us give generously, not grudgingly. Each gift is a seed that multiplies into harvests of thanksgiving to God.
