The Gospels mention a simple, unnamed disciple in Matthew 21 who did something extraordinary—he lent Jesus his donkey for the triumphal entry into Jerusalem. While we don’t know his name, his action was deeply significant. Jesus needed a donkey, and this disciple was willing to give what he had for the cause of Christ. “Go into the village… and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me” (Matthew 21:2).
In a world that often seeks fame and recognition, this unnamed disciple teaches us that serving Christ doesn’t always come with a spotlight. Sometimes, it’s the small, humble acts of obedience that God uses most. The disciple didn’t have to provide an army, build a temple, or preach a sermon—he simply gave Jesus access to what he already had.
We all have something to give. Maybe it’s a talent, a resource, or a willingness to serve in an unnoticed way. Just as this disciple gave Jesus what he had, God asks us to offer Him our lives, however humble. We don’t need to be famous; we just need to be faithful.
Today, ask God how you can offer what you have, whether big or small, for His glory. Whether you’re lending a donkey or offering a word of encouragement, know that God values your obedience, and He can use your faithfulness to accomplish His great purposes.
