Parenting is more than feeding, clothing, and educating our children—it’s about shaping hearts for God. Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” This verse is not a guarantee of perfection, but a powerful principle: intentional, godly training leaves a lasting imprint on a child’s soul.
Training involves more than teaching—it involves modeling. Children learn more from what we live than from what we say. If we want our children to love God’s Word, they must see us reading and obeying it. If we want them to value church, they must see our joy in gathering with God’s people. If we want them to walk in humility, we must be quick to confess when we fall short.
Every correction, conversation, and celebration is an opportunity to point them toward Christ. This includes setting boundaries, cultivating a love for truth, and fostering an environment where questions are welcomed and Scripture is central.
Parenting is a long road filled with joys and challenges, but take heart—your labor in the Lord is not in vain. Keep planting seeds, keep showing up, and keep pointing them to Jesus. Your faithfulness today may very well be their strength tomorrow.
