Romans 6:11
“Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Paul calls believers to a deliberate reckoning. Resurrection life is not only something God declares—it is something we consciously embrace. “Reckon” means to count as true what God has already established.
Many believers struggle not because resurrection life is unavailable, but because they continue to live as though death still has authority. Paul insists on a mental shift grounded in truth: dead to sin, alive to God.
This is not denial of temptation; it is refusal to submit to it. Resurrection life changes identity before it changes behavior. We do not fight sin to become alive—we fight from life already given.
To be alive to God means responsiveness. Desire shifts. Awareness deepens. Communion replaces distance. Resurrection joy settles when identity aligns with truth.
This reckoning is an act of faith. Feelings may lag behind truth, but obedience begins by agreeing with God. Resurrection life grows stronger when believers stop arguing with grace.
Ask yourself today: are you living as though sin still owns you—or as someone alive to God? Resurrection invites you to live from who you already are.
Alive. Free. Belonging to Him.
