Hebrews 6:11–12
“And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”

Spiritual drift rarely announces itself. It happens quietly—through neglected prayer, distracted attention, and unexamined habits. The writer of Hebrews calls believers to diligence not because danger is loud, but because it is subtle.

Hope must be carried forward intentionally. Faith that endures is not passive; it is anchored. Diligence does not mean frantic effort—it means consistent engagement with truth over time.

The contrast here is important. Slothfulness is not overt rebellion; it is spiritual disengagement. Enduring faith refuses to coast. It follows examples of those who inherited God’s promises through faith and patience.

Patience is often overlooked, but Scripture refuses to separate it from faith. God’s promises are not claimed by urgency, but by endurance. Faith that lasts learns to wait without drifting.

This passage offers both warning and encouragement. Drift is real, but so is inheritance. God rewards those who remain anchored, even when progress feels slow.

Today, examine what has been anchoring your faith. Faith that endures is tethered to truth, not circumstance.
