Romans 1:16
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth…”
Paul’s declaration is not bravado—it is conviction born of experience. He had seen the Gospel mocked, rejected, and persecuted. Yet he was unashamed because he knew what the Gospel does. It is not a suggestion; it is power.
Shame often masquerades as wisdom. We tell ourselves it is better to be subtle, to wait for the right moment, to avoid offense. But Paul does not ground his boldness in personality or strategy—he grounds it in confidence in the Gospel itself.
The Gospel does not need protection. It does not need dilution. It does not need cultural approval. Revival restores confidence not in our ability to persuade, but in God’s ability to save.
Paul also reminds us that the Gospel is for “every one that believeth.” No one is too hardened, too hostile, or too far gone. Revival breaks the lie that some people are unreachable.
Sunday worship should renew this confidence. We gather not to retreat from the world, but to be reminded of what we carry into it. The church exists because the Gospel works.
Ask yourself today: where have you been tempted to soften, hide, or avoid the Gospel? Revival restores holy boldness—not arrogance, but assurance.
Be unashamed—not because the world agrees, but because God is powerful.
