One of the most beloved miracles in the New Testament began with the simple, selfless act of a young boy. In John 6, when a crowd of over 5,000 needed food, Jesus asked His disciples how they would feed the people. Andrew found a boy who had five barley loaves and two small fish. It seemed insignificant—barely a lunch. But then the boy gave it to Jesus.

What happened next is unforgettable: “Jesus took the loaves… and distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down” (John 6:11). All were fed—and more. When the crowd was full, twelve baskets of leftovers remained. What the boy gave may have seemed small, but in the hands of Jesus, it became more than enough.

This young boy teaches us a powerful lesson: God isn’t asking us to be impressive—He’s asking us to be available. It wasn’t the size of the gift, but the willingness to give that opened the door for a miracle. Jesus didn’t multiply what the boy kept. He multiplied what the boy gave.

Never underestimate what God can do with your small offering. A word of encouragement, a few hours of service, a simple act of obedience—all of it matters in the hands of Jesus. Today, bring Him what you have, however small it may seem, and trust Him to do the multiplying.
