Colossians 3:23–24
“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.”
Much of faithful Christian living happens out of sight. There is no applause for integrity, no recognition for consistency, no spotlight for obedience in ordinary spaces. Paul reminds believers that unseen faithfulness is not unnoticed—it is seen by the Lord Himself.
This passage reframes motivation. When obedience is fueled by human recognition, discouragement comes quickly. Faith that endures learns to work “as unto the Lord,” trusting that His evaluation matters most.
Serving Christ in the unseen places sanctifies the ordinary. Work, parenting, service, and responsibility become acts of worship when done with a heart oriented toward God. Enduring faith finds meaning where the world sees monotony.
Paul also points forward to inheritance. God does not overlook faithfulness done in obscurity. Reward is promised—not as a bribe, but as affirmation that nothing done for Christ is wasted.
If your obedience feels invisible today, take comfort. You are not serving unseen. Faith that endures draws strength from knowing Christ Himself receives your labor.
Keep serving. God is faithful to remember what others overlook.
